Alumni Print Weekend

Alumni Print Weekend 2015
All degree-holding alumni with printmaking experience are invited to apply to participate in the Annual Alumni Print Session that takes place in October over Columbus Day weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) at Maine College of Art. The 2017 session will take place on October 6-8. The Visiting Artist and theme will be announced in the spring of 2017. Early applications are encouraged.

The Alumni Print Session was created by Gina Adams ’02, Jill Dalton ’99, and Printmaking Professor Elizabeth Jabar to offer a collaborative studio opportunity to our alumni.

The event begins with dinner on Friday evening and continues through Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 5pm in the printmaking studios at MECA. Participants work in relationship to a theme generated by the Visiting Artist to create 20 portfolios, containing 11 prints each, including one master print by each participating artist. Several students and past participants help to provide studio assistance. At the end of the session, each artist receives one of the portfolios.

The 2016 Visiting Artist was Emmeline Solomon’13, and the theme was Margins and Marginalia.

Participants should come with an idea or image for a print already worked out, in order to successfully complete the 20 prints within the two printing days.

Applications are accepted until the participant list is filled. There is a $50 participation fee, which includes the cost of materials, Friday night dinner, brunch on Saturday and Sunday, and a print portfolio from the session.

To apply, please email with Name, Address, Phone Number, Email Address and Grad Year; a digital image of one of your prints with title, media, dimensions, year; and a short paragraph outlining how your work relates to the selected theme and why you would like to participate.
